Position Summary:
This excellent career opportunity is located in Ruger's Newport, New Hampshire pistol manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of production methods, equipment, tooling and processes in order to manufacturer the highest quality parts for the finest firearms in the world.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Establish, document and improve manufacturing processes.
• Improve the manufacturability of products and assist with the introduction of new product lines into production.
• Design tools and fixtures for the production process.
• Review and approve machine programs for part fabrication on the CNC machines.
• Specify new equipment and processes for new products as well as existing products and processes.
• Evaluate new processes, equipment suppliers and technology in order to facilitate continuous improvement of overall efficiency and quality.
Background/Experience:
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be a competent SolidWorks or similar CAD software user. Must have working knowledge of engineering documents, change orders and related. Must have 3-5 years of experience in tool design and the layout of fixtures, jigs and gages in a metals manufacturing environment. Experience with Lean production systems and GD&T would be helpful and desirable. Manual and CAM CNC Programming experience is a plus. Knowledge of Heat Treatment and Materials is desirable.
Personal Qualifications:
The successful candidate must be a high energy, creative, resourceful and organized engineering professional. The ability to multi-task and to manage several projects simultaneously is a must. Demonstrated experience working in a team environment is a requirement.
